New York is in the state of whose state capital is Albany. Dutch traders founded a on Manhattan Island in 1624 and called it New Amsterdam. In 1664, British renamed it New York.
Until Washington DC was constructed , New York was the nation's capital. A million immigrants a year arrived in New York at the end of the 1900's and many of them stayed.
The five of New York are all separate islands except Manhattan and the Bronx, which are on the same one. There are 55 in NYC, plus a lot of tunnels too.
